THIS WEEK'S SLOCAL SKATER

Skate Mobb's journey with Ben was a unique one. It all started in the hallways of Mustang with his roomie Jacob and some Skatercise on the treadmills, and ended on the half-pipe at the park. Ben is a triple threat as far as Skate Mobb's concerned being a surfer, skater, and music maker. Check out the Mobberview below for more info.

Q: What are your fav. skate tricks?

A: Gnarly powerslides, frontside spins, disaster stalls, and other things that remind me of being in the water.

Q: How long have you been skating?

A: Been skating since I came out the nutsack!!...That would be cool but really since I was about 8 or 9.

Q: How'd you get into skating?

A: Back when I was a little grom all of my buddies skated so it was only natural that I did too, so I could beat them at S-K-A-T-E.

Q: What was your first skate?

A: My aunt used to skate back in the day and I came upon her old board in the garage. It was a narrow little Hobie with the smallest trucks I've ever seen. It looked like a banana on roller skates and rode how it looked, but got me stoked enough to keep at it.

Q: Have you had any nasty skate injuries?

A: The worst have been a broken foot and a concussion, so not anything too gnarly but lots of scraped knees, shoulders, arms, elbows and such. That's why I painted my deck like a band-aid, so I'm always prepared for those scrapes and scratches.

Q: Who's your fav. pro skater?

A: Natas Kaupas. He's the type of skater who can take something as small and simple as a curb and just shred it. He invented the wall ride and also does crazy things with fire hydrants.

Q: Who do you like jammin' to?

A: Too hard to name one. Fugazi is sick, the Beatles are cool, Mos Def is rad, Justice is gnartastic, and many more of course...
